Internet Marketing 101 – How To Build A Blog To Make Money Online

In the past, blogging was a platform where people talked about whatever it is that fancied them. These days, however, as people are learning the fine art of Internet Marketing or earning money online, the trend for blogging nowadays is to focus on a specific niche that will, hopefully, put some cash in your pocket. In this article, we will outline to you the steps for creating a blog.

1. Choose your niche

There are really only two ways to choose a niche: either you start with what you know or you do some research on certain industries.

For instance, if you're passionate successful and passionate business with an eye for helping other people, you can fill a knowledge gap in this area by blogging business strategies that helped you succeed. There will always be people who want to get into business and there will always be people who have problems running their business.

If there's nothing in particular you're knowledgeable about, choose a niche from the following industries: love, health and finance. If you really dig deeper, you will see that there are thousands of niches you can build a blog on.

2. Build your website

There are free blogs and self-hosted blogs. Free blogs are blogs hosted on Wordpress.com or Blogger. A self-hosted blog, on the other hand, is hosted on your own account with a web hosting company. You will need to buy a domain name ($15 every year) and then associate it with your hosting account (at least $10 every month). If you're not ready for a self-hosted website, then create a blog on either Wordpress.com or Blogger.

Even then, establish a deadline for when you'll change your free blog to a self-hosted one. Though there's nothing naturally wrong with free blogs, they aren't your property and there is telling when those free blog sites are going to close your blog for whatever reason. It has happened to bloggers before and it will occur again.

3. Generate content

Many people, including experienced Online marketers, think they need to always generate 100% unique articles or blog posts every time, nonetheless, the fact is that a lot of web publishers of high-traffic internet sites really don't publish completely unique articles, they only take content like pics, videos and text from other websites, add a few paragraphs then publish them. This is called content curation.

4. Market your blog

Make your blog rank well on search engines like Google for its most relevant keywords. You can do this by first buying a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) ebook. If you want to make your life easier, however, hire an SEO specialist straightaway. Make use of your friends on Facebook by asking to share your blog on their own Facebook walls.

Make sure you post only informative articles or blog posts that are really worth sharing. Like we said, you don't have to write content from scratch, you can always curate content.
